Extracurriculars
Grad school starts in two weeks - more or less. In the meantime, I’m moving (again), and hunting for a wedding venue. I also want to get out of “Clean Your Brush Stop Hitting Each Other Wash Your Hands” mode, and get into “My Art Career” mode. So, on the agenda for the next two weeks: at least one call for entries I want to apply to, (and make a new piece for!), and installing work for Chicago Artists Month (which I was INVITED to via WMG!)
I totally love being invited (not like it has happened a lot) no fees, no fuss, and the piece is done. Perfect! How easy is that? Yay. It does mean I have to resurrect POKE. But the space is really cool and different from how I’ve done it before. The show is called Arterial Space and it’s at Salvage One (a very cool vintage housewares warehouse where they had their spring gala).
For the quick turn-around for the open call I am thinking of a double muff I’ll call: Double Fantasy. I thought of this new muff shape a few years ago while reading Playboy’s interviews with John Lennon and Yoko Ono in Kopi Cafe. It’s a muff for couple’s to share!
