Interviews
Apparently the application process is in the interview phase - I have two interviews to do this week! MICA on Friday, and I just heard that I am a finalist for CCA in San Francisco. Unfortunately for my pale skin and Gray Chicago Winter Syndrome, CCA is doing the interview over the phone. I haven’t had a chance to go out there yet and see the school. Maybe there will be another opportunity.
In an effort to appear like a more professional version of myself (and not the polyester clad Express 9-5 clone it seems like ‘professional attire’ wants me to be), I’ve been assembling an interview outfit. My goal is to look serious, but not severe, fashionable, without being trendy, conservative but not boring, and young, but not thirteen. I say thirteen, because until yesterday, the nicest skirt I own is one I’ve had since the seventh grade. It’s a purple velour mini. I love the 90’s! So far, I have found a more grown up knee length wool skirt, a coordinating BB Dakota jacket, and a knit shell in some kind of crazy ultramarine blue/purple - all for $33! I am one mean bargain queen who can work under shopping deadlines.
I think I also need to spring for a haircut.

Oh! And though I did not chose this skirt for my interview outfit, I ALTERED MY FIRST GARMENT! It was a skirt that needed to be taken in about two inches. The seam is straight (after three goes at it), and the lining is put back in place. Next, crafting a garment from scratch.
