Grad School End Game
The results are in. Finally. The process that began last fall, cost me probably 1500 dollars so far (not even counting an impending $1000 deposit), at least two dozen versions of my personal essay, endless future plans conversations with my partner, a few angry e-mails to admissions, frantic reminder phone calls to reccommenders, six manila folders scrawled on with Sharpie, and lot’s of thinking about “my creative process,” and my desired “grad school experience.” Over. Finally.
The results:
Cranbrook: Accepted
California College of the Arts Social Practices: Accepted
MICA: Waitlist (top 9%)
VCU: Waitlist
Berkeley: Declined
Temple: Declined
And the choice is…….Drumroll……
CRANBROOK!
CCA and Cranbrook are so different, I kind of wish I could go to both. The Social Practices program is really awesome and unique, and really the opposite kind of experience in every way. Both have their pros and cons. It was tough.
(Was it? I’ve been reading books from Cranbrook Fiber’s reading list since February.)
Back to Michigan for me. I will once again be able to scavenge the Ann Arbor Reuse Center for art supplies!
